Applications are now open to serve on IAG’s Awards Committee and Scholarship Committee. If you are looking for a meaningful way to get involved with IAG, this is a wonderful opportunity to help recognize and celebrate outstanding students and educators across Indiana.

The Awards Committee will select the recipients of the four awards presented at the IAG Conference this fall. The Scholarship Committee will select the Ginny Burney Scholar, who will attend this fall’s IAG Conference, as well as the recipients of IAG’s three scholarships for high school seniors in the spring.

Committee members will serve from October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 and must maintain current IAG membership throughout their service. We would love to have you join us!

There is still time to be part of the 2026 IAG Conference!

The deadline to submit a session proposal is September 1, 2026. We are looking for engaging, practical sessions that will inspire and support educators, coordinators, counselors, parents, and others who serve high ability learners across Indiana.

If you have an idea, strategy, program, or practice worth sharing, we would love to hear from you.

Submit your proposal by September 1. Proposal notifications will be sent by October 1.

A quick reminder for Indiana high ability coordinators: FY26 High Ability Program (HAP) grant funds must be liquidated by Friday, August 28, 2026.

Please check in with your district business office to make sure all eligible FY26 expenses have been fully paid by the deadline.

The FY26 final report is due November 30, 2026.

IAG will continue to keep members updated on important HAP deadlines and statewide high ability policy changes.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Ginny Burney Scholar Program!

This program supports passionate Indiana educators who are committed to expanding access to talent development opportunities for students from low-income backgrounds. The selected scholar will receive complimentary registration to the 2026 IAG Annual Conference, hotel accommodations, a travel stipend, a one-year IAG membership, and support from a professional mentor.

Teachers, high ability coordinators, counselors, and school psychologists who work in schools with significant populations of students from low-income backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be new to the field of high ability education or serving in a new high ability role, with fewer than five years of experience.

Applications are due October 1, 2026.

The Indiana Department of Education is offering nine regional, in-person workshops for high ability coordinators. These engaging, hands-on sessions will provide essential guidance, practical tools, and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues while strengthening consistent practices for high ability programming across Indiana.

All workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to noon local time. Register here to attend a workshop near you.

The Indiana Department of Education has released guidance on AP and Cambridge International exam funding for the 2026–2027 school year.

Indiana students in grades 9–12 who are enrolled in an accredited public or non-public school may receive funding for up to two eligible AP or Cambridge International exams per year. The memo also identifies the AP exams prioritized for state funding and notes that additional AP exams may be funded for fee-reduced students if funding allows.

Questions about the exam subsidy should be directed to IDOE’s Office of Student Assessment.

IAG is currently accepting nominations for the 2026 IAG Awards.

Current IAG members are invited to nominate an outstanding teacher, leader, or friend of the gifted for recognition. In addition, IAG is excited to share that membership is not required to nominate a student for an award. Anyone, including a parent, may submit a student nomination.

Nominations will be accepted until July 1. Help IAG recognize the students, educators, leaders, and advocates making a meaningful difference in high ability education across Indiana.
