From the Inside Out: An in-depth look at the lives of twice-exceptional
students
Hello,
My name is Monique Sims and I work as a graduate assistant in the Center for
Gifted Education. I am currently working on my Masters thesis in Gifted
Education here at the College of William and Mary. I have chosen to focus on
the experiences of gifted students with learning difficulties in life and
school. I would also like to look at these experiences from the parent’s
perspective.
Currently I am looking for volunteers who would be willing to participate in my
research study. The study involves a two part interview: one involving the
twice-exceptional student and one involving the parent(s). The interviews
should take no more than 30 minutes each.
Students who participate must meet the following criteria:
• Be identified as having gifts AND learning difficulties by their school
district,
OR
• Be identified as having gifts AND learning difficulties through
testing/evaluation done outside of the school district
If you and your child are interested in participating, please send an email to
2Eresearch@gmail.com and I will forward a letter containing more information
regarding the study and a consent form.
This research has been approved by the William and Mary Institutional Review
Board. If you have any questions feel free to email Monique Sims at
2Eresearch@gmail.com.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to participate!
