This guidebook published by the National Education Association (NEA) provides an overview of the importance of serving twice-exceptional learners, how to identify these students, student characteristics, the role of the classroom teacher, and how the twice-exceptional learner relates to the local community. Both parents and professionals will benefit from the information presented.

This quick and easy two page reference lists characteristics needed to be successful with a focus on traits such as persistence and keeping a positive attitude. There is an emphasis on developing skills to enable students to effective use their gifts and talents.

4. Emotional Intensity in Gifted Students: Helping Kids Cope WithExplosive Feelings (book)
This book was written especially for parents and teachers of gifted learners. As emotional intensity is common within the gifted population, this book offers parents and teachers the chance to gain a richer understanding of what this means in the lives of their children or students, and provides some strategies to help these children learn to successfully manage their emotions.

5. Twice-Exceptional Newsletter
This site offers a collection of articles and resources addressing the needs of twice-exceptional learners. There is also a newsletter published bimonthly targeted towards parents, counselors and teachers of twice-exceptional students. While there is a yearly cost for the newsletter, the site also contains many free resources and articles.

6. Seven Essential Tools for Parents of Gifted Children
This article present a "toolbox" that parents of gifted children can use to help them be successful. Tools addressing perfectionism, anxiety, communication, study skills and executive functioning skills are all included.

7. Uniquely Gifted: resources for gifted children with special needs
The Uniquely Gifted site targets parents and teachers as well as providing a page specifically for twice-exceptional children. The "Especially for Kids" page includes personal stories from other 2e students, information about college, resources for self-advocacy, and a collection of books and web resources. The main site contains resources from multiple areas including assessment, information about specific disabilities, various treatments, educational concerns, and classroom resources.

This page publish by Uniquely Gifted offers a listing of books and websites that parents and teachers may find helpful. The books are organized by area including treatment and medication, specific special needs, teenagers, social skills, and books with special needs characters. Magazines and newsletters are also listed.

9. Council for Exceptional Children
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) offers resources, advocacy information, professional development opportunities and publications pertaining to children with a diverse range of needs, including those who are twice-exceptional. CEC membership includes journals, increased professional development opportunities, the opportunity to participate in special interest divisions, an online member community and an online job board.

Hoagies "all things gifted" page includes resources addressing the needs of gifted learners as well as those who are twice-exceptional. Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG)
Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) is a national organization devoted to supporting mental health and social/emotional development in gifted learners. They offer online resources, SENGinars (webinars) for teachers and parents, a newsletter and a directory of local parent support groups.

Uniquely Gifted: Identifying and Meeting the Needs of the TwiceExceptional Student (book)
This book offers parents, teachers, and others interested in twice-exceptional children a collection of real-life experiences from multiple perspectives, including the perspective of twice-exceptional children. These articles and stories target family concerns, educational strategies, research and theories about giftedness, and school administration ideas.

The Bright Kids Pintrest page, created by Mensa for Kids, is a collection of educational ideas, children's' books, creative art projects, resources for specific school subjects and games for gifted children. There is something here for every academic subject, multiple other interest areas, and fun ideas for the classroom or family night.

NAGC Twice-Exceptional Position Paper

Colleges Not Using The SAT
This is a current list of colleges and universities that do not emphasis the use of standardized testing such as the SAT or ACT in their admissions process. The list notes to what degree many of the schools require testing, such as only requiring standardized tests if a minimum GPA is not met or if the student is applying from out-of-state (see key at bottom of article).
